The first race of the
2002 season from Locharbriggs 58 miles. 1,545 pigeons were liberated
at 9.00am into a head on north west wind. 1st, 2nd, & 4th Club - 1st
& 2nd 3Bird Club - 1st,
3rd, & 6th Ayrshire Federation went to
Mr & Mrs J Savage of Abbeyton Lofts. First to the loft at 10-34-47
taking the 1st Club 1st Federation position was an Osborne Jan Aarden chequer pied cock
SU01A8718 a son of the gold ring chequer pied cock SU00A3881, who took
the 2nd club 3rd Federation position timing in at 10-35-27. Third bird to the loft at
10-36-19 taking the 4th Club 6th Federation position was SU01A8722 a son of the
young bird Ripon final winner in the 2000 season SU00A3904, "The
Conqueror" |

The second race of the 2002 season
from Appleby 117 miles.
2,026 birds were liberated at 9.15am into a
variable wind, the outright winner 1st Club 1st Ayrshire Federation timing in at 11-34-06 doing a
velocity of 1484.0 yds/min went to John McNeil of Broomfield Lofts. This
pigeon a chequer pied hen is bred down from a Kirkland cock crossed with
a Jan Aarden hen and is a daughter to "Blue
Queen" SU97A2824 which was
3rd in Ayrshire Federation from Pontefract. The winning pigeon
SU01A8557 is also a half sister to Mr & Mrs J Savage's young bird
Federation winner chequer cock SU00A3904, "The
Conqueror"
The third race of the 2002 season
again from Appleby 117 miles.
2,362 birds were liberated at 9.30am
into a light north west head on wind. Mr & Mrs Savage of Abbeyton
Lofts scored a good result again timing in their Cheq Cock SU01A8722
"Conquerors Son"
at 12-32-40 doing a velocity of 1126.9
yds/min to take the 2nd Club 2nd 3Bird Club 10th Ayrshire Federation prize. John McNeil
of Broomfield lofts was closely behind on a velocity of 1122.1 yds/min
to take the 3rd Club 12th Ayrshire Federation prize. |

The forth race of the 2002 season from
Ripon 165 miles.
2,097 birds were liberated at 7.30am into a light
south wind. The outright winner taking the 1st Club position was none
other than John McNeil of Broomfield Lofts timing in his yearling red
hen at 10-41-24 on a velocity of 1521.7 yds/min. This pigeons sire was
bred by H Brown & Daughter of Stonehouse and the dam is a Jan
Aarden pigeon bred by Broomfield Lofts. This pigeon also competed in the S.N.F.C. Newbury race 326 miles on Sat 8th June 2002.

The fifth race of
the 2002 season from Pontefract 191 miles. 1,418
birds were liberated at 11.00am into a light south wind.
Heavy showers were reported on route making it a
difficult race. Mr & Mrs J Savage of Abbeyton Lofts
timed their yearling Cheq Hen "Miss Molly"
SU01A8682 at 15-52-28 doing a velocity of 1151 yds/min to take the 1st
Club 2nd Ayrshire Federation prize. This pigeon is a Jan Aarden and a
sister to the dam that bred the Cheq Cock SU00A3904 "The Conqueror". |
